Housing or work life concerns or constraints:

We request information from all Station residents on medical conditions or allergies that may require medication, treatment, or special consideration during your stay at the Station.  This is for your own safety and comfort, and is not required.
 
Also consider these specific questions, or related issues:
  • Are you colorblind, hearing impaired, or have other constraints that might make it difficult to identify animals at a distance, or to perform fine scale operations under field conditions?
  • Do you have any allergies or medical conditions that should be considered or would prevent you from participating in long hours of field work in remote locations? 
  • Are you willing to handle and manipulate animals (eg. small mammals, amphibians, reptiles, adult and nestling birds)?

 

B) Course Selection

 
Enrollment is limited to one course at a time.

Please submit full copies of all your college transcripts. UVA student transcript are available to our office automatically, so UVA students do not need to send in a copy of UVA transcripts.

Credit: Courses at Mountain Lake are part of the Summer Session of the University of Virginia.

Courses may be taken for graduate or undergraduate credit.

Fees and Payment: Textbooks are purchased and fees paid before arrival. Students pay room and board in addition to tuition. All checks must be made out to "University of Virginia." Fees are subject to change. Credit cards are NOT accepted for course fees.

C) Financial Aid Request (Optional)

 
Complete this section only if you wish to be considered for financial assistance. Funds are granted to help defer tuition, housing and dining costs while taking a class at MLBS.  Awards are made while funds are available and are based on academic record and financial need.  A statement of need and letter of recommendation are required.  Financial aid recipients may be called upon to assist with daily or irregular maintenance and special work projects in Station buildings or on the grounds.  Slightly early arrival and late departure may be required. Work load varies over the summer, but every effort is made to accommodate class schedules and demands.  Review of applications for financial aid begins March 15.

Letter of Recommendation:
Please submit one letter of recommendation from a faculty member or similar academic instructor or advisor who knows you and your potential. Referee may send letter directly to MLBS or you may send it provided it is sealed and signed by the referee.
